Shoutcast Testing

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Yesterday I got a shoutcast License from WHMSonic and I have been testing out all of their features as well as setting up pricing for the sale. So far it is going great. I have had it on for a total of 4 hours including yesterday and today running on 64kbps connection and it is smooth. I have also tried it out on 24kbps and it is the same smooth as 64kbps which is amazing.

Hopefully it is ready for live release tomorrow. My co-owner is supposed to be coming over for discussions on plans and pricing and we are just crossing our fingers for the best. Wish us luck.

vBulletin 3.8.0

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Last week the vBulletin team announced their latest stable version of vBulletin which is 3.8.0. There isn’t a lot of changes or updates but it is pretty good from what I’ve tried so far. For the first time it lets you sort out your PMs as well as quick reply to PMs which stops the whole page load.

I don’t plan on upgrading my blog this month. But most likely next month if not then March for sure. They don’t have any significant changes that actually grab my attention or any thing that I actually need so there is no rush, I am happy with 3.7. Let’s hope 4.0 is around the corner because that’s sure to have something that I really really want.

Reinstalled cPanel

Monday, January 12th, 2009

I thought I would tell you how the reinstall went yesterday. Well it didn’t work at all. I had to do ANOTHER reinstall early this morning and then with some help from the cPanel tech support, I was able to get things running. It was such a headache.

But right now I am happy that we were able to fix the issue and get things going. I am actually taking a break from looking at WHM and the server window. Hopefully the rest of it won’t be too hard or too time consuming.

Reinstalling cPanel

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Yesterday I added a new server to Juna Web which is my own web hosting company and we have had a lot of problems with cPanel so right now I am taking the time aside to fully reinstall cpanel as a whole in hopes that it will fix the problems. Problems include things as the DNS not resolving as well as perl modules failing.

Hopefully it finishes fast. right now All I have to do is wait for it to finish so I can go ahead and try again. The wait is brutal.

Wordpress 2.6.2

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

A week ago, Wordpress announced the latest stable version of wordpress which is wordpress 2.6.2. Leo Power is currently on Wordpress 2.5.1 which isn’t bad at all. I have actually grown used to it but I plan to upgrade soon.

Because of starting classes and all I don’t have all the time in the world to upgrade all my sites whenever. I have to wait and time it right but wordpress 2.6.2 sounds promising and much better so Yeah, I will definitely be upgrading, the date is still undetermined.

SOTW 40 at Gamers-Forum.com

Friday, September 12th, 2008

SOTW stands for Sig of the Week and the 40 represents the week. So yeah, we have been doing this for FORTY (4) WEEKS. How many other web sites or forums can say that they have held graphics competitions every week for 40 full weeks? That is over 10 months.

We are hoping for another 10 to come by quickly so we can celebrate the 50th SOTW with a Big Bang. I can’t believe that a year is closing in on the Sig of the Week competitions on Gamers-Forum.com. I am happy to have managed and owned a huge and successful forum.

Google Index Variation

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Google as we know has dozens to hundreds of datacenters around the earth. If they had just one then we would lag big time when trying to visit their web site let alone search anything. This is another reason they are one of the largest companies in the world. When one is down the other one takes its place.

Google’s index rates vary from one datacenter to another. I am not saying that EVERY single datacenter will give you a different number of indexed pages, I am saying that you are likely to get at least a few different variations just so you know. Try to find the index rates of Gamers-Forum.com in different datacenters and see if you get the same number every time.

Template Images

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Template images are sometimes a huge hassle to get right. I learned that today when I had to redo a bunch of templates to make sure that it fits properly and make sure that it aligns itself on the most used browsers.

So today I have been working on perfecting the images. I did get far but I did not finish. I am currently on a break hoping to finish by the end of the night or tomorrow at latest. The template is private at the moment but when I am done and we launched, I will definitely show you what it is about.
